Gazi, Melbourne

A whirlwind work trip to Melbourne, how could I not resist trying one of George Calombaris’s greek restaurants, Gazi. Situated in Melbourne CBD where The Press Club used to be, this place is not as fancy but just as good.

Feature image is a beetroot and feta open souvlaki – absolutely devine to get those tastebuds excited. Of course you can’t not order the saganaki topped with deliciously sweet figs, a slab of roast pork belly enough to feed 3 I say and some sautéed greens so we don’t feel so bad after this pure indulgence.

Not sure how long this place will be open for but if you’re in or around Melbourne it is definitely worth a try. If you are happy to travel out of the city area then I would say that my favourite is still Hellenic Republic (see earlier post). Otherwise this place is just as fine to.
